MKU Among Most Searched Institutions On Google

Google recently released a list of the most searched items in Kenya in the last 15 years as the search engine giant marked its 15th anniversary. The general search category was dominated by sports-related companies while institutions searches were topped by local universities.

According to the report, Kenyatta University was the most searched institution during the period, followed by the University of Nairobi (UoN), Moi University, KRA and Maseno University. Mount Kenya University (MKU) came sixth but emerged as the most searched private university, beating seventh-placed Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and Strathmore University, which came eighth.

MKU, founded by Prof Simon Gicharu, has been growing over the years and gained popularity among institutions of higher learning, with branches across Kenya and East Africa. Emerging among top searches is an indication that more Kenyan students have been showing growing interest in the Thika-based university and its courses.

Meanwhile, football-related topics topped the overall search list, with search items under the category exhibiting an unmatched consistency over the years.

English Premier League was the most searched item in the general category followed by SportPesa. The data further reveals that Betin Kenya, another betting company, was the third most searched item in the general category.
