Former Citizen TV anchor Joey Muthengi has formally made a return to Capital FM.

Muthengi, who was poached from Capital FM where she was the host of Hits not Homework, a youth entertainment show, to join the SK Macharia-owned TV station in 2013, will co-host ‘The Jam 984’ show alongside Martin Kariuki.

The duo replace veteran presenter Cess Mutungi, who parted ways with the Chris Kirubi-owned radio station last Friday as the Capital Group embarks on a restructuring programme aimed at cutting costs and bringing in new faces.

Sources at Lonrho House say Capital Group is going through lean times with employers being made to do with a pay cut effective June 1.

Already, several key staffers, among them, Editorial Director Michael Mumo, Special Projects Editor Rob Jillo and presenters Maqbul Mohammed and Charles Kiarie have either left or are serving notice,

Joey is also an actress, who featured in Tusker Project Fame. She first joined Capital FM in 2009 to host the popular youth programme.

She resigned in November last year after she was summoned for a disciplinary action for taking part in a Betin advert, which rivals that Shabiki, which is owned by SK, the Royal Media Services proprietor.

At RMS, she hosted Citizen TV 10 over 10 show, in addition to co-costing Day Break with Willis Raburu.

In January, she had indicated she had landed a job with the Voice of America (VOA.)
