Investors rebound to Sh750 million at the NSE

With the month of October nearing its end, turnover at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) rose to Ksh753 million on October 30.

The bourse traded a volume of 33 million shares, up from 18.4 million shares that were valued at Ksh407 million posted yesterday.

Despite this bounce back, the indices all saw a decline as the NSE 20 Share Index was down 10.65 points to stand at 2801.22. The All Share Index (NASI) shed 0.36 points to stand at 145.21 while the NSE 25 Share Index was down 15.93 points to close at 3696.93.

The Bond Market registered improved activity with bonds worth Ksh3.1 billion transacted compared to Ksh1.8 billion posted the previous session.

Sectors Wrap

The Banking Sector traded shares worth Ksh137 million and accounted for 18.21% of the day’s traded value.

KCB Group remained stable at Ksh38.50, moving 1.9 million shares valued at Ksh75 million. Equity Group had 979,000 shares valued at 39 million traded and closed at Ksh39.75.

Co-operative Bank was down 0.2% to Ksh14.20 and saw 586,000 shares worth 8.3 million transacted.

The Commercial and Services Sector had shares worth Ksh33.5 million transacted and represented 4.45% of the day’s traded value.

Scangroup was the main feature in the sector with 2.1 million shares valued at Ksh29.4 million traded and closed at Ksh14.

The Energy & Petroleum Sector had shares worth Ksh44.9 million transacted and represented 5.96% of the day’s traded value.

KenolKobil moved 2.3 million shares valued at Ksh42.7 million at between Ksh18 and Ksh18.70. Kenya power was up 0.05% to Ksh4.15 and had 352,000 shares valued at Ksh1.4 million traded.

The Insurance Sector had shares worth Ksh3.4 million transacted and represented 0.46% of the day’s traded value.

CIC Group was up 0.05% to Ksh3.95 and had 588,000 shares valued at Ksh2.3 million transacted.

The Investment Sector had shares worth Ksh8.1 million transacted and represented 1.08% of the day’s traded value.

Centum Investment was unchanged at Ksh25 and moved 318,000 shares valued at Ksh7.9 million.

The Manufacturing & Allied Sector had shares worth Ksh3.6 million transacted and represented 0.48% of the day’s traded value.

E.A Breweries moved 17,000 shares valued at Ksh3.1 million at between Ksh175 and Ksh180.

Safaricom was the day’s main feature in the Telecommunication Sector with 22 million shares valued at Ksh521 million traded at between Ksh23.25 and Ksh24 ; this represented 69.21% of the days traded value.
