Gulf African Bank opens up its procurement to women

Gulf African Bank, Kenya’s premier SME Shari’ah compliant bank, will hold a capacity building programme for women owned businesses in Mombasa.

The two-day programme, organized in partnership with UN Women, will bring together women in business seeking to forge partnerships, learn about making their businesses procurement-ready and gain substantive practical skills in bidding competitively in the private sector.

The strength and competency building initiative for the WOBs is a key aspect to ensure that they are able to benefit from the Gulf African Bank unsecured trade finance products that incorporates women who have been issued with their first tenders and also the Banks affirmative action procurement process.

As in most developing countries, Women Owned Businesses in Kenya have more challenges accessing procurement opportunities compared to their male counterparts.
