Carol Radull, the sports journalist who recently left Radio Africa in unclear circumstances, has found a new home at the Nation Media Group. The sports analyst and commentator has been giving veiled hints of “a TV and radio near you”. Today, she offered details of her new deal with NTV, owned by NMG, just days after leaving Radio Africa’s Kiss FM.
At NMG, Radull will launch and host a new show – Gameplan – on NTV, a magazine show that will be airing every Monday night. From her hints, she will be teaming up with “Great Roy” (@RoyKaruhize) and @KieniGithinji to continue to push the sport agenda.
“Nation will reveal (the show) from tomorrow, they will run teasers so if you see the teasers on TV, it’s pretty obvious…The deal is for the foreseeable future, if you tune in, we’ll be there for a long time, if you don’t we will be gone,” Ms Radull is quoted as saying.
Last week, through a Facebook post, Radull announced her exit after serving at Radio Africa for 21 years, having joined in August 8, 2000, as a news reporter before she was promoted to head of News at Kiss 100. In 2008, she was among the team that launched Radio Jambo and was made the station’s first Programme Controller.

In 2012 she says she launched the RAL Digital department (including Mpasho), which she says was not “exactly her cup of tea”. “2016 and Bamba Sport was born. This was an exciting project and I got to hire amazing talent like Ida Waringa and Mukami Wambora (both of who had never been on TV and both of who have become sports broadcasting Superstars), Mohamed Abu such a sports journalist extraordinaire,” she adds.
Radull who seems to have fallen out with a section of the Radio Africa Ltd management had been off radio for over 18 months. In her exit message, she curtly said she was not “designed to push papers and write reports”.
“While I respect all the opportunities I got at Radio Africa; most of the management opportunities; I never believed I was designed to push papers and write reports. I haven’t been on radio for a year and a half for reasons I choose not to share but in two weeks’ time. I will be back on your airwaves; with the “Great Roy” and Kieni to continue to push the sports agenda,” she said.
Before her tenure at Radio Africa, she worked as the East Africa Producer for the BBC World Service between July 1997 and April 1999. She was also the producer for Reuters Television.
