On Tuesday, March 24, ex Citizen TV and KTN journalist,  Alex Chamwada’s Chams Media opened its bureau office in Turkana County – its first-ever regional office away from Nairobi in a ceremony presided over by Josphat Koli Nanok, Governor of Turkana.

The team expressed their excitement noting the opening indicated that Turkana county and the entire region was ripe for investment.

The media company has produced several eye-catching, inspirational, informative and engaging features about the county, away from the normal news narrative that tends to concentrate on problems.

“For us, opening this office is a step further in our vision to position ourselves in this region that has many positive untold stories. We will traverse the entire North Rift region whose population is about 10 million,” expressed the Chams Media CEO, Alex Chamwada

He further highlighted that region is a goldmine of interesting stories in various sectors including trade, tourism, environment, agriculture, culture, sports and peacebuilding.

“Our aim is to turn our lenses on the entire eight counties of the region, namely, Turkana, Samburu, West Pokot, Elgeyo Marakwet, Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Baringo,” he added

They expressed their readiness to partner with government entities, NGOs, religious organizations, media organizations and the private sector at large to produce and distribute content that transforms lives.

“We have the state of the art technology and a competent team in Lodwar which will be supported by the team at our headquarters in Nairobi,” Chamwada noted.

He reaffirmed the company’s aim to contribute to the promotion of talent in the region. “We have nurtured local talent in various fields from videography to research, scripting and reporting,”

Alex Chamwada cemented his position in the media industry as a leading journalist at Citizen TV and KTN popular for his international news reporting. He served as the political editor and news editor for five years in KTN and as an Associate Editor at Citizen TV for 6 years.

Before exiting the Royal Media Services television network, Chamwada set to build a media empire of his own, hence the launch of Chams Media in January 2014.
