Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has rewarded Gor Mahia with a sum of Ksh 500,000 following their 4-2 victory against Egyptian giants Zamalek.
Gor won 4-2 against the Egyptian side in the first leg of the CAF confederation cup fixture. Jack Tuyisenge’s brace and goals from Dennis Oliech and Nicholas Kipkirui assured K’Ogalo of the victory against Zamalek who had not lost against Gor before. Ibrahim Hassan scored a brace for the White Knights.
Club chairman Ambrose Rachier, who confirmed the meeting, said the promise of Ksh 100,,000 to all players if they reach the knock-out stages still stands.
“They are many more assisting us to motivate these players. Already I had promised the players Ksh100,000 for reaching the group stage, we will pay them once we receive the money from CAF,” Rachier said.
Raila also took to Twitter to congratulate the team.

Rachier also said that Gor Mahia’s form has only began improving and there is more to come from the KPL champions. “We’ve had new players who took time to gel but so far the team chemistry is taking shape, it will be difficult to trounce Gor Mahia in the next games,” he added.
In another Group D fixture, Algeria’s Nasr Hussein Day won 2-1 against Angola’s Petro Atletico.
Gor will continue with their CAF confederation cup campaign away at Petro Atletico on Wednesday 13th February. They play Vihiga United next in the local league.
