The Boxing Association of Kenya (BAK) elections have been postponed for the third time. BAK interim Secretary general Isaac Mbote said that the elections that were scheduled for Friday had to be deferred after a Boxing Consultative Committee meeting.

Mbote said in a press conference that the Consultative Committee that was set up by Cabinet Secretary for sports Rashid Echesa met on wednesday and decided to put off the elections. The committee led by Anthony “Jamal” Otieno and Kennedy “Kentrack” Otieno necessitated the postponement of elections after the failure of the Registrar of Sports to finalise the issuance of registration certificates to the 19 counties that are scheduled to take part the elections.

“The preparations for the elections got mixed up with Christmas festivities and further delay came about when Registrar of Sports proceeded on leave and will resume work next week,” Mbote said in the press confrence.

Mbote told reporters that the exact date of the elections will be communicated after Registrar of Sports Rosemary Wasike is through with the issuance of the certificates, a process that should take less than two weeks.
