The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has partnered with the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) to offer an executive programme in economic diplomacy.
The London School of Economics is one of the top institutions globally in Economics, Fiscal Policy and related areas like Economic Diplomacy.
The programme is run by Kenya School of Revenue Administration (KESRA), KRA’s institution which specialises in training on tax and customs administration.

The executive programme which kicked off on August 20, at a Naivasha hotel is a post-graduate-level programme tailored for experts, professionals and bureaucrats who engage in international negotiations of treaties, agreements and other instruments of diplomacy.
The programme is set to equip more than 25 participants with requisite knowledge and skills in economic diplomacy. The participants are drawn from key government agencies that represent Kenya on the negotiating table during trade and treaty negotiations.
Among the participants are officials from KRA, the office of the Attorney General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of East African Community and Northern Corridor Development and the Ministry of Industrialisation.
If the programme succeeds, it will place Kenya at a better vantage position in negotiating international trade treaties. The programme is further aimed at giving Kenya better bargaining power in diplomatic negotiations.
Among the topics to be covered during the training include analytical tools for economic diplomats, the practice of economic diplomacy with a key focus on actors and process, understanding a negotiating partner, and multilevel (or multi-fora) economic diplomacy.
Economic diplomacy is a pillar that has supported many nations across the globe including world super powers such as the US, Japan and China .

KESRA and LSE further said they will seek to explore the feasibility of regular trainings on economic diplomacy every year.
