HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, has announced that the new Nokia 6 smartphone, running on Android OS, is now available to buy from select retail stores for Ksh 29,000 from 24th, April 2018.

Building on the success of its predecessor, the new Nokia 6 packs even more powerful performance and great new features into a more compact, durable body. Powered by the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 630 Mobile Platform, the new Nokia 6 is over 60% faster than its award-winning predecessor. Also, now offering enhanced Dual-Sight, ZEISS optics, USB-C fast-charging, Nokia spatial audio and pure, secure and up-to-date Android Oreo™, the new Nokia 6 has been selected by Google to join the Android One family.

Taking the original’s precision craftsmanship to the next level the new Nokia 6 combines a unibody, made from a solid block of 6000 series aluminium, with an 11-hour two-tone anodising and polishing process. And by uniting a sculpted 2.5D display with damage-resistant Corning® Gorilla® Glass, the new Nokia 6’s compact and refined body is designed to stay beautiful for longer.

Built on the well-loved design of its predecessor, you can be sure that the new Nokia 6 is durable enough to take life’s everyday knocks, all while being even more compact than the previous generation. But it’s not just about durability, the new Nokia 6 has also got the style to match. It is finished using a unique two-tone anodising process to stand out from the crowd.

The original Nokia 6 received great feedback on its display, colours and brightness. The new Nokia 6 takes it even further by increasing the screen-to-body ratio with a sharp 5.5-inch full HD IPS laminated display, so you can enjoy a stunning immersive entertainment experience in a compact package.

The new Nokia 6 delivers a fast and smooth performance alongside great day-long battery life. With its 3000mAh battery with USB type-C fast-charging, you can charge 50% of your phone’s battery in just 30 minutes.

For the moments you want to relive again and again, the 16 MP ZEISS rear camera with dual-tone flash and 8MP selfie camera will ensure you capture every detail. And because there are always two sides to every story, the new Nokia 6 features enhanced Dual-Sight.

The new Nokia 6 will come with a limited number of pre-installed apps to give users more storage space.

Activating the front and back cameras at the same time, Dual-Sight lets you create your very own #Bothie and even stream it live on social media. Plus, with Nokia spatial audio, you can record high-fidelity surround sound on all your videos, giving you an immersive experience when you watch it back, you’ll feel like you were there again.

For added security and ease, the new Nokia 6 recognises you, giving you the ability to unlock your phone with your face, lightning fast. This feature will be available as an over the air update.

Joseph Umunakwe, General Manager HMD Global, said: “The new Nokia 6 is the embodiment of our core values – quality phones based on real-life needs. We’ve enhanced everything our fans loved about their Nokia 6 including making it more than 60% faster. We’ve also added in-demand features like USB-C fast-charging and our unique Dual-Sight technology, enhanced by ZEISS optics. We have improved on the award-wining formula of the original Nokia 6, our first Android smartphone which received praise from around the world for its design, durability and performance, making it last longer and perform even better.”

“We were the first to introduce the #Bothie, and we’re excited to bring our Dual-Sight technology to the new Nokia 6, enabling even more fans to capture both sides of the story in a truly unique way. The new Nokia 6 is undeniably built to last and designed to perform. We are delighted to offer the new Nokia 6 to our fans”.

The new Nokia 6 joins the Android One family, offering a high quality software experience designed by Google. The new Nokia 6 will stay fresh over time with the latest Google innovations and regular security updates. Because it runs pure Android, the new Nokia 6 comes with no unnecessary User Interface changes or hidden processes that would eat up your battery life or slow it down, so you can enjoy your phone for longer. As with all Nokia smartphones in the Android One programme, the new Nokia 6 will come with a limited number of pre-installed apps so that you’ll get more storage space.
