Carrefour, the French hypermarket, has opened its fifth outlet at the Sarit Center shopping mall in Nairobi, occupying the space that was vacated by Uchumi Supermarket. However, once the new wing at the shopping mall is completed, the retailer will move to a larger space.

While signing a lease agreement with the Sarit Center management in February, Franck Moreau Carrefour Kenya country manager said: “We are elated to be making our entry into Westlands which we consider to be very strategic for our business. The Carrefour store at Sarit Centre gives us an opportunity to present our differentiated services to thousands of customers who visit this mall every day due to its prime location.”

“We are privileged to have partnered with the mall owners before the completion of the new wing, making it possible to influence the design of the space to suit our specifications and international standards.”

In January this year, Carrefour opened its fourth outlet at the Junction Mall, which was formerly occupied by Nakumatt Holdings. The retailer has other branches at Two Rivers Mall, The Hub, and Thika Road Mall (TRM).
