Pernod Ricard, one of the biggest names in global alcohol sale and distribution, has announced plans to increase its foot-prints in Kenya. The company, which manufactures Jameson whiskey, plans to introduce more brands in Kenya and the East African market in general in response to consumer demand.

The firm’s top leadership team was in Kenya recently where they met government, private sector and media during its fact-finding mission. “We have met with the Competition Authority and the Kenya Bureau of Standards,” Christian Porta, CEO Pernod Ricard EMEA and Latin America said in Nairobi.

He explained that the firm is planning to ensure that consumers are provided with their favourite brands at the right time.

“We want to make sure that our affiliates in Ethiopia, Tanzania and obviously Kenya are delivering because the consumers are more demanding and knows what they want,” he said. The firm is also putting more funding and resources in innovation.

This year’s event saw staff from the group plant 5,000 tree seedlings as part of its contribution towards environmental conservation.
