Vivian Wilson made her runway debut at Milan Fashion Week on Friday, walking for Gucci in a white dress and glittered heels as part of the label’s latest collection under new artistic director Demna.
“I just walked for Gucci lmfao,” Wilson wrote on Instagram minutes after leaving the catwalk, where she appeared alongside models including Kate Moss and Emily Ratajkowski.
Wilson, who turns 21 this year, has amassed more than one million followers on Instagram and has drawn attention for public criticism of her biological father, Elon Musk. The two have been estranged since 2020, when Wilson came out as transgender. She is the eldest living child of the billionaire entrepreneur.
The Gucci appearance marks the latest step in a modeling career that has accelerated over the past year. Wilson first walked at New York Fashion Week in September, wearing a design by Alexis Bittar in a “Miss USA 1991”-themed show. She later appeared in collections by Prabal Gurung and Chrishabana.
In interviews, Wilson has described runway work as more demanding than photo shoots, calling it “very daunting and stressful and exciting at the same time.” Modeling, she said, has allowed her to collaborate with creative teams across hair, makeup and photography — and to support herself financially.
Her profile expanded further this year when Rihanna selected her for a new lingerie campaign for the Fenty brand. Wilson previously fronted a campaign for TomboyX and told Vanity Fair that the shoot marked a departure from her earlier reluctance to show her body publicly, describing the experience as both nerve-racking and affirming.
Wilson has said she aims to work with companies that meet what she calls ethical business standards and align with her identity as a queer transgender woman. Asked in past interviews about her father, she has declined to elaborate, steering the conversation back to her own career trajectory.
