US-based taxation and legal advisory firm, Andersen Global, has signed a collaboration agreement with Nexus Business Advisory Limited (Nexus), a tax, legal and business advisory firm based in Nairobi as it expands its presence in the continent.

The company says the agreement with Nexus launches Andersen Global’s practice in East Africa and is the next step in expanding the organisation’s platform in Africa, which currently also includes Nigerian member firm, Andersen Tax LP.

Nexus was founded in 2013 and the team is led by Founder and Managing Partner, Philip Muema. The firm is comprised of experts in tax and legal issues who have an excellent track record in tax matters gained cumulatively over 40 years. Nexus will continue to provide tax and business solutions to individuals and corporations operating in East Africa and abroad, including services related to mergers & acquisitions, due diligence reviews, sell-side tax advice, transfer pricing, corporate tax, VAT, international tax, cross border tax planning, tax litigation, and employee compensation structuring.

“I am very excited about the prospects for us in Africa, as well as the management team that we are assembling within the continent. Philip is an outstanding professional and will help us create a platform for this strategic market in Africa. Kenya, which is the gateway to East Africa, continues to grow and expand with positive demographics,” said Global Chairman and Andersen Tax LLC CEO, Mark Vorsatz.

“Nexus is at the forefront of tax issues in East Africa and Philip will be responsible for that region, which has excellent potential for growth. Moving forward, I anticipate that we will have an expanded presence in Africa’s key markets and complete a full platform.”

Muema added: “At Nexus, we believe that knowledge sharing and operating without borders are extremely important in maintaining strong relationships with our clients and providing best-in-class service globally. This collaboration heralds a new dawn in tax practice in Kenya and East Africa. We already have a close working relationship with Olaleye Adebiyi and other Partners in Africa, and we look forward to this growing partnership. We are pleased to be able to work in collaboration with Andersen Global and grow the Africa practice. The collaboration with Andersen Global offers great possibilities for expansion into new markets and capabilities for both firms.”

Andersen Global is an international association of separate, independent member firms comprised of tax and legal professionals around the world. Established in 2014 by US member firm Andersen Tax LLC, Andersen Global now has more than 2,200 professionals worldwide and a presence in over 70 locations through its member firms and collaborating firms.
