StarTimes Wins Broadcast Rights to Top-Flight Football

StarTimes Media subscribers in Kenya will access the Emirates FA Cup and the FA Community Shield. The broadcaster has secured transmission rights for the exploitation of these two prestigious football competitions on all media platforms across sub-Saharan Africa until 2021.

The Emirates FA Cup will broadcast from the third round with the first game airing on Saturday 4th January 2020.

StarTimes Regional Marketing Director Mr Aldrine Nsubuga noted that the Emirates FA Cup and the FA Community Shield are among the most competitive national football events in which Kenyan subscribers have a keen interest.

“We have been building a very solid offer in terms of football for 2020 with national competitions with the two new properties now adding into other ongoing premium properties including UEFA Europa League, Coppa Italia and The Bundesliga. This is in our progressive efforts to secure relevant content towards extending the best value to our subscribers,” noted Mr. Nsubuga.

The media rights will run across all platforms including pay television and online mobile application, enabling subscribers to access football action both at the comfort of their homes and on the go.

StarTimes has dedicated five channels to the rich footballing action, three of them being High Definition (HD) which includes World Football (HD), Sports Premium (HD), Sports Arena (HD), Sports Focus and Sports Life.

The channels will have additional offerings including multi-language commentary in English, Kiswahili and French.

With the broadcast rights extending to availability of the matches on the StarTimes mobile application, soccer fans will be in a position to stream live matches on Standard Definition (SD), High Definition (HD) and Ultra High Definition (UHD).

Emirates FA Cup

Subscribers to StarTimes terrestrial platform will enjoy the Emirates FA Cup and FA Community Shield as well as other top tier soccer leagues from as little as Ksh749 per month on Classic bouquet, while those on satellite television platform will enjoy the action on Super bouquet at Ksh 1,499 per month.
