Cosmetics billionaire and superstar singer Rihanna, real name Robyn Rihanna Fenty, on Tuesday, May 10 confirmed the entry of her Fenty Beauty brand into several new markets in Africa.

The new markets include Kenya, Ghana, Botswana, Namibia, Nigeria, Zambia, South Africa and Zimbabwe. She also confirmed plans to expand into more countries.

In response to enquiries from excited Kenyans, Fenty Beauty disclosed that Linton’s Beauty World would be its distributor locally.

Linton’s describes itself as ‘East Africa’s premier distributor and retailer of high-end skin care, make-up and designer fragrances’ .Fenty Beauty products will be available at its stores in the country.

Previously, individuals or businesses in Kenya looking to purchase Fenty products would have to buy online and have the goods shipped to Kenya.

The beauty industry in Kenya is valued at over Ksh100 billion. As of 2017, Kenya’s colour cosmetics market was estimated to be worth Ksh5.4 billion and was projected to grow to Ksh6.6 billion shillings in 2018.

Fenty Beauty was established by Rihanna and French luxury conglomerate LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton) in 2017. It earned plaudits for offering an inclusive range for all skin tones.

Rihanna also launched the lingerie line Savage x Fenty.

Her ownership in the success of the brands has driven Rihanna to billionaire status. Forbes places her net worth at $1.7 billion.
