Veteran journalist Olive Burrows has joined NTV from Capital Group as Nation Media Group (NMG) embarks on strengthening its editorial division following the recent exodus of journalists.
It is a major catch for NMG as Burrows boasts over 10 years experience and, perhaps, most notably she was the only local journalist who got an opportunity to interview US President Barack Obama when he visited Kenya in July 2015. The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) was the only other media that clinched an interview with President Obama ahead of his visit.
Committed to asking the hard questions and telling the story in the most engaging way possible, she has also interviewed Melinda Gates, a UK Minister and severally had the opportunity to sit across from President Uhuru Kenyatta and address the pressing issues of the day.
Other notables she has had occasion to seek answers from are UN Secretary General António Guterres and John Kerry in his time as US Secretary of State.
NTV recently lost several key journalists to rival, Royal Media Services, while news anchor, presenter and technology editor Larry Madowo also joined the BBC where he was named the BBC Africa Business Editor. They include Editor Pamela Asigi and news anchors Jamila Mohammed and Victoria Rubadiri.
Former NTV General Manager Linus Kaikai, who left the twin towers earlier, has since also joined RMS and Strategy and Innovation Director.
Quoting a source at NTV, Nairobi News reports that Burrows will anchor news and may also have her own show, adding she has already tendered her resignation. It will most probably be styled along the lines of Rubadiri’s Victoria’s Lounge, which tackled social issues.

A Bachelors Degree in Communication graduate from Daystar University, Burrows started her media career as a contributor for East Africa Magazine and later True Love before joining Destination Magazine as a staff writer in March 2012. She left for Capital FM in October of the same year.
