A new luxury hotel, Kingfisher Nest, has opened doors at the heart of Nairobi City, Westlands. The hotel boasts 46 units of two bed-roomed apartments and is located at an easily accessible place, off Mwanzi road and directly opposite the Ukay Centre in the heart of Westlands.
Developed by Sato Properties, the facility has spacious and comfortable rooms with fully furnished kitchens, a living room, and refreshing decor coupled with an entertainment system.
With an opening offer of USD 100 (Ksh 10,000) a single stay for bed and breakfast, and USD 120 (Ksh 1,200) for couples, the Kingfisher Nest is set to revolutionise the up market furnished apartments space as well as the city’s hospitality industr, according to the Director of Sato Properties and Managing Director Kingfisher Nest Vishal Shah.
“Our aim is to be the best not only in Kenya but also in Africa. We intend to set standards for this industry for local and international tourists,” says Vishal.
Inside every room is an art painting of the kingfisher bird. The kingfisher birds are known for their large heads, long, sharp, pointed bills, short legs, and stubby tails decorated with unmistakably bright blue and orange colours. They like flying low over still waters in search of fish.
The apartments have already opened their doors for business with 50% of the apartments already occupied. Ten of the apartments have been occupied on long-term basis (for more than two months).
The new facility will feature an iconic roof top bar dubbed Wingbar complete with a heated pool.

Speaking to Business Today, the Head of Marketing Mr Wycliffe Ozumba says that the hotel offers both luxury and value for money to both domestic and foreign visitors.

Sato Properties was founded in 2004, with an aim of renovating existing properties and re-selling them. Most of their properties have been named after birds, and Kingfisher becomes one among the many. Others include the Hornbill, Heron Nest and the Falcon Tower.
