A Ksh3 billion luxurious hotel has been opened in Kilifi County. The new Silver Palm Spa and Resort located in Kilifi beach is part of the innovations that will transform the tourism industry and attract more tourists from both local and the International sources.

The hotel is located 70 kilometres from Mombasa and 55 kilometres from Malindi airport.

Sliver Palm Spa and Resort, which sits in a five-acre piece of land, has 38 rooms with sophisticated design that reflect the modern contemporary Swahili influences with great attention to detail that makes the place like paradise.

Speaking to the press at the hotel, Mr Michael Otieno, the resort general manager, said “we have the best staff coming from the local community, they are friendly and passionate about the property,’’ he said.

Mr Otieno said during the construction of the resort, furniture designed from the local palm wood was used as one way of empowering the locals.

He said the hotel officially began operations in May after taking three years to construct. The GM, however, said they target the foreign market to ensure the tourists have the right facility that gives them value for their money.

The hotel has also special packages for locals too, he said, adding that services offered by the resort include conference tourism with three forms of conference facilities with a capacity of 90 people.

One of the conference halls has a capacity of 60 people while the others can hold 20 and 30 people respectively.
