Evans Cheruiyot and Allistair Mueni Mutua are the winners of Ksh13,093,111 SportPesa Mid-Week Jackpot.

The two men correctly predicted the outcome of 13 football matches in last week’s Mid-Week Jackpot to win the amount, which will be shared among them equally. Each will take home Ksh6,546,555 before tax.

Cheruiyot tills other people’s land in Molo to provide for his young family.

“I don’t have much and survive by working on other people’s pieces of land. This win, which I still can’t believe, will help me to buy my own land. At least now I can farm on my property and not others’,” said Cheruiyot when he visited SportPesa offices on the morning of Saturday, March 12 with his whole family to cheer him on.

His fellow jackpot winner Mutua, a civil servant in Nairobi said the win came as a surprise.

“I have been playing on SportPesa for a long time but never expected to win this big someday. I am still surprised and that is why I have no immediate plans for the money,” said the elated public servant.

“I will take some time to think about my plans for the money to ensure prudent spending.”

The latest winners mark the second time the Mid-Week Jackpot has been won this year.

The SportPesa Mid-week Jackpot starts at Ksh10 million and increases each week if no one wins it. Once it is won it resets to Ksh10 million. It is the only progressive jackpot in the market. The previous win was in February when Benjamin Kiprono won Ksh12,419,938.

SportPesa also offers a Mega Jackpot which starts at Ksh100 million and like the Mid-Week one, increases each week until it is won. The Mega Jackpot currently stands at Ksh194,177,201.
