Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has denied he intends to resign, saying he is busy at work.

Sell your own news and information and allow me to work,” he wrote on his Twitter account, as he posted photos on ongoing works to repair roads in the city.

An early morning Facebook post had given indication the governor is mulling throwing in the towel as he told residents running the capital city is not a walk in the park.

However, Sonko had would consult city residents before making any move, adding he does not want to follow the example of his deputy Polycarp Igathe who took many by surprise when he announced he was quitting.

He also revealed he had been advised to remove the national flag from his car by Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho and a Mr Ndegwa.

At the same time, Sonko said there has been consistent revenue collection at City Hall with Ksh 1.247 billion having been collected by Wednesday defeating previous assertions that such figure could only be realised in January.

The grapevine has it that former governor Evans Kidero at one time also considered not vying for a second time after facing resistance from cartels operating in the capital.

Most of those who responded asked Sonko to soldier on while others took the opportunity to congratulate him for a job well done, urging him to ensure the funds are prudently utilised.
