A businessman who Keroche Breweries heiress Anerlisa Muigai claims she stood surety for a loan of nearly Ksh 19 million on his behalf has now sued her for defamation.

In a fresh twist to the saga, Ben Kangangi is accusing Anerlisa of damaging his reputation by claiming he colluded with  Dennis Mombo Mwangeka to get her to secure the loan. Mwangeka is accusing her of defaulting on the loan and is also taking legal action.

In a post on her social media platforms recently, Anerlisa claims Kangangi, who used to sell cars, connived with Mwangeka to have her provide security for the disputed loan, which he claimed was to be used to finance a government tender for the supply of electric cables.

Anerlisa says she had earlier given Kangangi Ksh 7 million and asked him to borrow the rest from elsewhere before he came back to tell her he had found a financier but did not have the ability to provide security for the loan. That is when she stepped in only to realise later she had been conned.

However, in his suit papers filed by Conrad Maloba and Associates on March 26, Kangangi asserts the annual turnover from his various businesses is worth about Ksh 100 million (US$ 1 million) to Ksh 200 million (US$ 2 million). He adds that he has seven personell in his direct employ and about 30 indirectly working for him.

He says he deals in import and sale of high end automobiles, equipment, fashion apparel and designs materials through his trading company known as Benka Automobiles.
