Kenya Power Announces Planned Power Outage in Six Counties

Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) is alerting customers in Mombasa, Kakamega, Nyeri, Meru, Migori and Kiambu counties of a planned power outage scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, June 5.

In all six counties, the outage is expected to last from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Officials said it’s needed for electric system upgrades and repairs to ensure reliability for customers.

“Good evening. The following areas will be affected by scheduled power interruptions to carry out network maintenance tomorrow,” KPLC said in a notice, giving a precise listing of the areas which will be affected by the outage:

In Mombasa County;

* Arti Villa Kongowea, Dog Section, Jocham Hosp, Kengeleni, Kisauni, Kongowea Catholic, Kongowea market, Kongowea Methodist, Makaburini, Maweni, Mlaleo Twiga Rd, Nyali Bridge, Nyali Cinemax, Nyali DCC Office, Nyali Plaza, Part of Mkomani, Part of Mshomoroni, Ratna Square, Safaricom, Sayyed Fatuma, and Simba Estate.

In Kakamega County;

* Bushiri Market and Health Center, Lower Ingotse Market, Muduma, Shirakwe Market, Simuli Secondary School, and Shironyanga.

In Nyeri County;

* Belle View, Birisha, Chinese Crusher Mataopeni, Egas Nairutia, Kamiruri, Karinguini, Karimenu, Kiawara, Laikipia Vocational Training College, Mahinga Meru, Marina, Muhonia, Njoguini, Ruirie, St Lassele, and Wangata.

In Meru County;

* Gankere, Kagaene Market, Kibuline Market, Kimachia, Kithiiri Market, Kunene Dispensary, Kunene Market, Machagene Market, Maskan, Mbeu Hospital, Meru University, Nchiru Market, and Uringu Girls.

In Migori County;

* Awendo, Kanga Centre, Kanga High School, Kanyawanga, Kitere Centre, Kokuro Centre, Kokuro High School, Nyatambe, Ondome, Rakwaro, Rongo Town, Rongo University, and Siruti.

In Kiambu County;

* Auto Springs, Boroti, Gichungo, Kamirithu, Kamonoru, Karanjee, KBC Kwambira, Kiriri, Kwambira, Limuru Town, Mutarakwa, Ndiuni, Nyataragi, Rwacumaria, Step Joy Boys, Tharuini, Thigio, Abba Salama, Corner Brook, Hamundia, Juja South Estate, Magomano, Matangini, Mastores, Murera Sisal, Ndarasha, Ndururumo, PCEA Matangi, Pherie, Ruiriro, Selecta/kpp Production, Space & Style, St. Dominic, and Theta.

KPLC also said the areas of Air Harries/Kwa Mzungu, Athi dispensary, Athi shopping centre, Gikumari shopping centre, Juja Farm Police Station, Juja Farm shopping centre, Juja Farm Zone P, Kwa Mirage shopping centre, Kwa Ruhi, Kwa Wamumbi, Kwa Wamuini, Mukuyuini shopping centre, Mwireri shopping centre, PCEA Tumaini, and St Michael Secondary School will be affected by the outage.
