Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) on Tuesday September 18 announced a Ksh7 million sponsorship for the 2018 Kenya International Six-Goal Polo Tournament which will be held at the Nairobi Polo Club from Friday September 21 to Sunday September 23.

The beer maker will also be providing free beer for players and fans during the course of the tournament.

This is the second time that the tournament will be held in September after it was earlier held between September 14 and September 16.

During the first phase of the tournament, Afrika Aviation beat White Cap Lager 8-7 in a game where the former’s captain starred scoring five goals.

The loss however has not stopped the brewer from splashing the cash as KBL seeks to keep hold of White Cap’s high end consumers who are big fans of polo.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Emerging Beers Marketing Manager, Alice Owambo said, “Kenya International Polo Tournament is a top sport in Kenya which compliments the White Cap Lager Brand character. As a brand we are happy to partner with Nairobi Polo club.”

The tournament will see some of the country’s best polo players battle it out in what is expected to be a thrilling contest.

Star players expected to breathe life into the tournament include include James Murray, Duncan Watson and Eric Stubbs.

Last year’s tournament saw Samurai emerge winners in an exciting 12 goal polo tournament and will be defending the tittle this year.
