Itel Mobile Kenya sponsors Embu Rugby Sevens

For the past five years, itel Mobile Kenya has been sponsoring different sports in the country.  This year, the company continued its support for Kenyan youth in sports by sponsoring the Embu Rugby Sevens, which was held last weekend on 1st and 2nd of July, at Embu Stadium.

The competitive event brought together more than 15 rugby teams from universities, high schools from across  the country.

Itel Mobile Kenya Digital Marketing Manager Bernard Muiru said the sponsorship is part of  the company’s corporate social responsibility in Kenya.

The company gave out prizes where the best player was awarded the newly launched selfie smartphone Itel S31, which comes with exceptional features. Referees were also awarded t-shirts while other giveaways were won by the audience via different games.

A similar event was held in under the Eldoret Rugby Sevens where other renowned clubs met to defend their title. The tournament attracted more than 12,000 rugby enthusiast from all over the country.

Itel brand ambassador Avril graced the event. Itel plans to expand its sponsorship to other sports tournaments in Kenya.

“Being part of sports growth is something that we believe will offer the young players the opportunity to work in a competitive environment. It will also help develop their talents and showcase them at international level in the future,” said Mr Muiru.
