GEMS Education is a 60-year international and worldwide education with operations in over 20 countries and 300 schools.  At GEMS Education, we are educators first. We are driven by a single purpose: “To put quality education within the reach of every student’.

As an organization, we operate on the ethos of family values. We promote mutual respect, fairness and balance in the manner in which we treat each other.

The GEMS Cambridge International School – Nairobi, is part of a wider network of GEMS schools that educate students in Europe, Africa, North America, Asia and the Middle East. Our global outlook has made us the preferred choice for students from around the world.

This international character adds an exciting dimension to our community and the educational experience we provide. Our mission is to inspire students to become knowledgeable leaders with a global vision. We help our students develop character through a supportive and culturally diverse community, with an emphasis on positive relationships to help build their self-esteem and confidence in a rapidly changing world.

At GEMS we live by core values that serve as our guide in all we endeavor to do:

  1. Leading Through Innovation: No idea is too small or too large if it makes things better for our students and our colleagues.
  2. Pursuing Excellence: Just as we set educational standards for our schools, we ensure that everything we do is delivered to a high standard. We go the extra mile for our students and our colleagues
  3. Growing by Learning: Strive to maximise your potential. We are committed to lifelong learning.
  4. Global Citizenship: We make a difference in our local communities so that we can build a sustainable planet to share. We aim to support the development of – not just great students, but great people who live with honesty, confidence and integrity.

GEMS continues to be at the forefront of educational development, reform and innovation through the GEMS Africa Institutes of Teacher Training (GAITT). We provide in-house teacher training, through courses, workshops and programmes to facilitate and support the highest level of performance for teachers.

The training is also available to leaders and teachers in other public and private schools’ who seek to improve their knowledge, skills and understanding and consequently enhance teaching and learning in the educational environment.

In addition to our holistic educational experience, GEMS Cambridge International School –Nairobi ensures that the welfare of all its employees and students is prioritised. Our group policy has a feedback mechanism for staff, students, parents and all our stakeholders and we do not condone intimidation and or victimization of any person.

We are an equal opportunities employer. Our policies and procedures are compliant with government expectations. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment that empowers our students and staff to pursue their intellectual and professional goals.

An annual survey is conducted anonymously by a reputable specialist company. The focus is on improving the quality of service for teachers, parents, students and staff. This includes a salary-based survey by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) that ensures teachers are well remunerated above the market average.

GEMS has a Whistleblower Policy, which was created to maintain the integrity of the organization by giving employees a forum to voice their concerns anonymously.

We work closely with less privileged schools within our community and encourage the participation of our students to equip them on how to live in a multicultural environment whilst stressing the importance of giving back to others both locally and globally.

We set these exacting standards of social and moral responsibility to fully prepare students as global citizens for their future lives.

We are proud to offer affordable Dream Africa Schools (DAS). We are continually investing and developing Mid-Market National Curriculum schools across the African continent with the aim of providing a balance and blend of educational development and opportunities.

GEMS Africa supports and sponsors a scholarship programme. Scholarships are awarded on merit and subject to an annual review. They are offered on a ranging scale with 100% scholarships may be awarded in exceptional circumstances.

As we continue to grow, GEMS seeks to achieve its mission of ‘No child left behind’.
