Dimension Data, Cisco Launch Cyber Security And Networking Service

This will enable clients to rapidly deploy new technologies and services within their environments

Dimension Data has launched a unified network and security service that consolidates several capabilities addressing IT operations and cyber security risks. This is made possible by taking advantage of the power in cloud delivered services from our strategic partner , Cisco technologies .

The new service, Managed Secure Software-Defined Wide Area Network, will enable both large and small enterprises deliver seamless secure access of applications and services to users wherever they may be in new dynamic environment, post COVID-19 . The service is scalable to respond to the elastic needs of the modern workplace.

It will enable clients to rapidly deploy new technologies and services within their environments, proactively address cyber risks, and provide scalability from their data centre, be it in private and public cloud.

Speaking during the launch of the service, Dimension Data Head of Digital Network Services Product and Commercialization, Mr Samuel Wanduga, said the solution is ideal for supporting clients’ next phase in digital transformation, which is to ensure businesses are ready for the future.

Mr Wanduga noted that with the unified solutions, the network is being extended to roaming and remote users of the modern enterprise, thus introducing a broader attack surface. “Users need to access applications and services that are distributed in both private and public clouds significantly adding cyber risks,” he said. “The new service aims to significantly mitigate the access risk for this dynamic user who is now working from anywhere.”

By integrating Cisco Meraki’s Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) and Managed SDWAN capabilities into Dimension Data offerings are equipping clients with agile, secure, and high-performance networking solutions. “Clients can anticipate not only enhanced network security but also improved connectivity and adaptability to meet evolving business demands,” he added.

Some of the benefits clients are going to derive from the solution include cost efficiencies and increased agility through automation, fit for purpose middle mile /underlay services management, secure remote work, optimisation in accessing existing applications/services, security posture enhancement and visibility, and alignment to business outcomes and growth management.

The solution will be delivered in three options: as system integration, bring your own network, or a full managed service offering.

He noted that the distribution of users, resources and networks continues to evolve along with the IT landscape, creating new complexities. Simplifying the IT experience enables IT to better automate, monitor and proactively diagnose issues before they occur, thus supporting a framework that is well-positioned to evolve alongside the modern hyper-distributed network as well as securing and connecting hyper-distributed users and resources, regardless of where they are located.
