Compulsive Masturbation and What it Does to Your Work Life

Today, social media is awash with stories and issues regarding sex and sex-related activities as people boldly share their experiences.

With this, there are a lot of things said regarding masturbation leading to a bombardment with information which is difficult to sieve for personal growth and development.

While social media allows one the privilege of anonymity, usually the content leads to confusion for those seeking enlightenment. For masturbation, it is no different.

Less Productive, More Secretive

Masturbation is an addiction that can break a person by making them lose touch with reality and those around them.

While the reclusive activity has been hailed as normal by some, for those who have had enough of it can testify of how difficult life becomes.

Loss of self-esteem, poor coordination and basically the need to be alone can be debilitating.

Some people even go the point of becoming exhibitionists like happened this week with the video of a man caught pleasuring himself at a busy bus stop in Nairobi.

Masturbation affects those hooked to it deeply by making them less productive, more secretive and in some cases, it drives them overboard as they seek the thrill which always ends up in regrets.

Driven by desire, the thrill is pleasurable followed by release and then regret. The problem is that for those who want to call it quits, they are bound to keep repeating the same thing and getting much deeper into desperation.

While some people overcome the problem, it takes time to get to a point where masturbation is no longer a bother.

For instance, Sam Vidambu, a CEO who was addicted to masturbation, says he had a fear of women having grown up sharing a room with his sisters.

He says that that to be hooked to masturbation, there has to be a trigger and a desire that consistently keeps driving a person to the act. For him, pornography was the cause any time he had to indulge.

Disrupting Daily Life

One of the downsides of masturbation is that in excessive practice, it may lead to a disruption of daily life.

Some people in some cases masturbate excessively leading them to miss important events like work, school activities and even social gatherings.

In addition, it interrupts the daily functioning of a person affecting their relationships and responsibilities.

In some cases, some people use masturbation as an escape from different issues which leads to the same cycle of desire ending up in guilt.

Interesting, there is no amount that can be normal for masturbation and when it gets to a point where you’re missing work or giving up on sex with your partner, then it is advisable that you seek help.

Compulsive masturbation disrupts your life just like excessive drinking or gambling. It is a behaviour which needs to be nipped in the bud before your boss gets on your case over your habitual lateness or not being productive at work.
