The bonds market at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) registered significant gain even though fewer deals were transacted on June 20 as against the previous session.
Jumping to Ksh5.7 billion, the bonds market inched upwards from the Ksh3.9 billion posted yesterday.
Despite the rise of over Ksh1.8 billion, a total of 43 deals at the bonds on the day was below the 62 deals posted previously.
Market turnover retreated to Ksh625 million as against the Ksh748 million registered on Wednesday.
The number of shares traded at NSE on the day stood at 19 million as against 26.7 million posted yesterday.
Mixed performance at the indices saw two tabs record a downward curve with the All Share Index tickling upwards.
Up 0.05 points, the All Share Index (NASI) closed at 147.58.
The other two indices, the NSE 20 share Index and the NSE 25 Share index were down 8.22 points and 8.03 points respectively.
The NSE 20 Share Index settled at 2650.69 while the NSE 25 Share Index was at 3575.43.
NSE Sectors
The Banking Sector had shares worth Ksh304 million transacted.
Equity Group Holdings actively moved 5M shares valued at Kes.212 million at between Ksh38.50 and Ksh39.90.
Diamond Trust Bank remained steady at Ksh116 with shares worth Ksh31 million transacted.

KCB Group was down 1.01% to Ksh39.05 and moved 688,000 shares valued at Ksh26.8 million.
The Energy & Petroleum sector had shares worth 2.2 million traded and accounted for 0.36% of the day’s traded value.
Kenya Power & Lighting moved 352,000 shares valued at Ksh1.4 million and closed at Ksh4.01.
The Investment sector had shares worth 17 million traded and accounted for 2.75% of the day’s traded value.
Centum moved 529,000 shares valued at Ksh17 million at a fairly stable price of Ksh32.40.
The Manufacturing and Allied sector had shares worth Ksh44.7 million traded and accounted for 7.15% of the day’s traded value.
B.A.T Kenya was up three shillings to Ksh505 and moved 52,000 shares valued at Ksh26 million.
E.A Breweries closed the day 1.72% lower to Ksh200.50 moving 74,000 shares valued at Ksh14.9 million.
In the Telecommunication sector, Safaricom actively moved 9 million shares valued at Ksh249 million at between Ksh27 and Ksh27.50.
Safaricom’s activity represented 39.90% of the day’s traded value.
