For yet another year, the voting phase of the BAKE Awards will be extended.

The Bloggers Association of Kenya (BAKE) said that casting votes for Kenya’s best blogs will now end on June 7. Initially, polls were meant to close on May 30.

“We made the decision to extend the voting deadline in order to give voters more time to vote for their favourite blogs in the competition,” said BAKE Digital Communications Executive Lolyne Ongeri in an email.

Extension of the voting phase has also seen the date for the gala night moved by one week.

The new date is now June 15, having previously been advertised for June 8.

BAKE is yet to announce the venue for the 2019 edition of the awards. Business Today understands that the bloggers association is still finalising on the location of the gala night.

The BAKE Awards have previously been held at hotels such as Intercontinental, Radisson Blu Upper Hill and Nairobi Serena. For the past two years, the gala night has been held at Crowne Plaza, Upperhill.

BAKE is now in the eighth year of honouring blogs in Kenya.

Starting in 2012 with 14 categories, the awards have now grown to include 23 categories encompassing video blogs (vlogs) and podcasts.

For the 2019 edition, a total of 115 sites are up for contention.
