Four Points by Sheraton Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) branch hosted its annual cake mixing event, an age-old custom that signals the beginning of the festive holiday season as it gears up for this year’s Christmas celebrations.

This historical traditional event which dates to the 17th Century in India, symbolizes unity and togetherness. It brings together friends and family to participate in the act of mixing a delectable blend of seasonal fruits, nuts, wine, spirits, and spices. This ritual is believed to bring good fortune and set the stage for a joyous holiday season.

“At Four Points by Sheraton JKIA, we take pride in selecting the finest ingredients that not only reflect the season’s abundance but also create a unique flavour profile for our cakes,” says Mr Atul Kumar, Executive Chef at Four Points by Sheraton JKIA branch.  “This year, our culinary team has carefully chosen a blend of exotic fruits like Indian figs, golden raisins, and locally sourced spices to enhance the flavours.”

Mr Atul says these ingredients infuse the cakes with a delightful mix of sweet, tart, and aromatic notes, creating a one-of-a-kind taste. The hotel has also lined up special holiday-themed activities and events to make the upcoming holiday season memorable. These include festive feasts, carol singing evenings, seasonal spa packages, and special surprises for young guests, such as Santa Claus visits and themed kids’ activities.

This year, the hotel is taking its commitment to community involvement a step further. The hotel plans to extend invitations to neighbours and friends, making it a collaborative and inclusive event. Guests and staff actively participate in the mixing, fostering a sense of togetherness.

“Our annual fruit mixing event at Four Points by Sheraton JKIA is not just an internal affair; it’s an occasion that we share with our local community and guests. We extend invitations to our neighbours and friends in the community to join us, making it a collaborative and inclusive event. Our staff and guests often participate in mixing, bringing people together”, added Kumar, Executive Chef at Four Points by Sheraton JKIA branch.
