FALSE: Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju Was Not Locked Out Of Party Offices

Former State House Digital Director Dennis Itumbi on 14th October reported that Jubilee Secretary General, Mr Raphael Tuju, was locked out of the party’s headquarters, which is false.

Mr Itumbi, who now works at the deputy president’s office, wrote on Twitter: “Jubilee HQ locked. Tuju locked out. They plan to blame the pandemic for office closure. Administration altercation is on.” The post was picked and shared by a number of people on social media.

A fact-check on the report reveals that it was untrue. Mr Tuju denied the allegations and asked the public to disregard the claims stating that wrangles had ensued in the party over administration and power privileges.

“I am currently behind my desk at Jubilee Headquarters and I have just finished a meeting with some of our staff,” Tuju said while responding to the report. “You are free to come and take a picture.” 

Jubilee Communications Director, Albert Mwemusi, also refuted the allegations.  He said on the day in question the Jubilee head offices were open and the SG, Mr Raphael Tuju, was at the office holding a meeting.

There have been reports that the Jubilee Party is seeking changes in the party’s top leadership with Tuju and David Murathe targeted for ouster ahead of the 2022 General elections.

VERDICT: Report that Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju was locked out of the party’s office is false as he has dismissed the information.
