Rubis App Eases Pain of Hiked Fuel Prices

Rubis has launched the Rubis App, a mobile application that enables its users to plan their journeys and transact conveniently from their smartphones.

The Rubis application allows users to enjoy a seamless digital experience with its customer-specific features. Users of the application will be able to easily perform different functions through such as locate any RUBiS station countrywide, purchase K-gas and accessories for home delivery, purchase airtime, pay utility bills and make purchases at RUBiS Express and Brioche.

“We are proud to launch the RUBiS App, an innovative tool that allows us to get closer to our customers for better service and make their lives on-the-go easier. Through this app, we want to deliver a frictionless digital experience across our main customer touchpoints with greater agility and value. RUBiS Energy Kenya Group Managing Director Mr Jean-Christian Bergeron said

“It is our vision that the app will enhance our customers’ journey and provide comprehensive functionality,” noted Group Managing Director Jean-Christian Bergeron.

As part of its promise to customers to make their life’s journey better and to be at the forefront of customer convenience in the next generation of oil marketers, Rubis has invested heavily in innovation targeted at meeting changing consumer needs.

“When we entered the market last year, we promised that our customers would enjoy a unique welcome and find all the products and services they need to facilitate their mobility. With the RUBiS App, we are delivering on our promise of ‘Making Your Life’s Journey Better’ to our customers while demonstrating quality, safety, convenience and service,” Mr Bergeron added.

He further affirmed that the company had the right technology in place to manage any market shifts and industry changes. He also expressed their dedication as Rubis in making long-term investments to meet their customers’ needs and ensuring standards are set and adhered to, to provide a memorable customer experience.

The launch of the app comes at a time when Kenyans are still recovering from the shock of hiked fuel prices announced on Sunday, March 14 by The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA).

The authority announced the prices of Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene to increase by Sh7.63, Sh5.75, and Sh5.41 per litre respectively that took effect on midnight March 15, 2021.

Diesel increased by 12.29 per cent from US$ 377.55 per cubic metre to US$423.95 per cubic metre while Kerosene increased by 13.26 from US$347.19 per cubic metre to US$ 393.23 per cubic metre.

Operating since 1990, the independent French company specialises in the distribution of petroleum products such as includes service station networks, commercial fuel, aviation fuel, LPG, lubricants, and bitumen alongside support, services and storage.

RUBiS acquired KenolKobil Plc in March 2019 and Gulf Energy Holdings Ltd in December 2019 and announced the takeover last year.

Rubis targets to rebrand Kenol, Kobil and Gulf Energy – to RUBiS by end of 2022. All the fuel stations will undergo a modernization program to comply with international standards, especially in terms of safety and environmentally friendly practices.
