Naomi Campbell Unveiled as Kenya’s Tourism Ambassador

Celebrated super model Naomi Campbell was on Tuesday, January 12 unveiled as Magical Kenya’s International Tourism Ambassador.

The model is expected to spearhead marketing of Kenya as an ideal destination for international travelers.

The partnership was announced following a meeting between Campbell and Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala.

“We welcome the exciting news that Naomi Campbell will advocate for tourism and travel internationally for the Magical Kenya brand,” noted Balala.

Campbell’s latest trip to Kenya saw her spend time at various destinations at the Coast.

She commended the government for upgrading the Malindi Airport in Kilifi, noting that the move would help attract tourists.

Campbell further urged golfers from around the world to consider the Baobab course at Vipingo Ridge, Kilifi.

“I am also impressed by the standard world class facilities at the Professional Golf Association (PGA) Baobab course located in Vipingo Ridge, the only golf course accredited by the PGA in the whole of Africa.

“I invite golf professionals globally to visit the course to enjoy the experience,” she noted.

The Tourism ministry has in recent times ramped up partnerships with influential figures in a boost to promote local and international tourism.

World marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge, for instance, has been one of the biggest promoters of the Magical Kenya brand.

He spent Friday, January 8 touring Nairobi National Park with Tourism CS Balala.

Kipchoge was handed a Magical Kenya ambassadorial role in late 2020, with the ministry hoping his star power could attract both local and international tourists.

The ministry also disclosed plans to leverage the partnership with Kipchoge to promote Kenya as a sports tourism destination.
