StarTimes Media on 14th October announced an ambitious subscriber retention strategy that w*** see more local content available on the platform and reduced decoder prices.
The move, which has seen it cut its set-top boxes cost to just Ksh1,500, steps up compe***ion against its main rival GoTV w**se decoders are currently going for Ksh2,000, opening a price *** front ahead of December and New Year festivities.
At the same time, subscribers on both terrestrial and satellite platforms w*** get automatic upgrades to higher bouquets at the cost of a lower bouquet for the first two weeks upon renewal of their monthly bouquet of c**ice.

The digital television company is set to introduce three fresh local s**ws d****g the festive period namely Next Superstar, Nira and Paper boat which w*** be available on Rembo TV, the broadcaster’s exclusive local content channel.
StarTimes Regional Director of Marketing Aldrine Nsubuga noted that in addition to the fresh local content, for every monthly subscription made on the Nyota bouquet, subscribers w*** access Basic bouquet for the initial two weeks, while subscribers enrolling to Basic w*** also qualify for the automatic upgrade to Cl***ic for the first two weeks at no extra cost.
“We acknowledge the need to progressively grow value for our subscribers which has advised our new campaign to offer them access to more premium channels at the cost of lower bouquets while st*** increasing our investment in local productions key in not only being compe***ive on price but also with the premium local content that w*** be available on our platform moving for***d,” noted Mr. Nsubuga.
Nova bouquet subscribers on the satellite television platform w*** also access the upgrade service where they w*** be upgraded to Smart bouquet for the first two weeks, while Smart bouquet subscribers w*** be upgraded to Super bouquet as Super subscriber’s access 10 extra days for every monthly subscription made.
StarTimes has also extended a 25% price drop for the company’s terrestrial and satellite set-top boxes. The company’s terrestrial pay television set-top boxes w*** now retail at Ksh 1,499 down from Ksh 1,999 inclusive of one-month cl***ic bouquet subscription, while satellite Combo full kit comprising of a decoder, dish and accessories w*** now retail at just Ksh2,999 down from Ksh3,999 inclusive one month super and cl***ic bouquet subscription.

StarTimes digital television sets w*** also see their retail price drop by between 10 to 15%, with the 24 inch set with *** slot now retailing at 11,999; 24 inch set with *** card, smartcard + Super bouquet w*** now retail at Ksh 13,499. The 32 inch digital TV with *** slot w*** now retail at Ksh14,999 while the 32 inch TV with *** card, smartcard and two months Super bouquet w*** retail at Ksh16,499.

The 43-inch digital television sets with *** slot w*** now retail at Ksh 27,999; the 43 inch TV with *** card, smartcard and two months Super bouquet w*** retail at Ksh29,499, while the 55 inch Smart digital TV w*** retail at Ksh. 69,999.
“The product discounts w*** run from November to 15th January 2020 while the subscription upgrades w*** run t*** 31st January 2020 d****g which period we believe we w*** experience increased subscription renewals while attracting more subscribers on our platform as Kenyans take advantage of the product discounts,” said Mr. Nsubuga.
