As Kenyan security agencies were being commended for a better coordinated response to the Riverside Attack compared to the shambolic showings during the Westgate and Garissa University terror attacks, Inayat Kassam once again responded to distress calls to rescue Kenyans trapped inside the DusitD2 complex on Tuesday.

Mr Kassam, a licensed firearm holder, has become the embodiment of true patriotism and courage. Tuesday was not the first time he left his comfort zone, putting his life on the line to rescue Kenyans. During the Westgate attack, the instructor also swung into action and used his skills at a time when his country needed him the most.

Inayat Kassam, an experienced shooting instructor is a person whose first instinct in the event of a terror attack is to help people.

In an interview with Citizen TV during the fifth memorial of the Westgate Attack, Kassam said that his desire to rescue people in the wake of an attack supersedes the need to keep himself safe.

“The drive to rescue more lives is more,” said Kassam when asked why he goes against the grain during terror attacks.
