Mantrac Kenya Ltd. has partnered with the Rotary Club of Karen and St. Mary’s Karen Primary and Junior School to complete four Grade 9 classrooms, a move that coincides with Caterpillar’s global centenary.

The initiative, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding signed on 4th August, 2025, aims to enhance learning conditions at the rapidly expanding school.

The agreement will fund essential works including flooring, doors, windows, paintwork, and electrical fittings for the classrooms. The collaboration marks a significant moment for Mantrac as it celebrates 100 years of Caterpillar’s operations worldwide and in Kenya, emphasising a legacy built on community empowerment alongside equipment provision.

“As we celebrate 100 years of Caterpillar’s service across the world, we are reminded that our true legacy is not just in the infrastructure we help build — but in the lives we touch and the futures we help shape,” said Mohamed Ibrahim, Managing Director of Mantrac Kenya.

He added that supporting St. Mary’s is an investment in “tomorrow’s engineers, teachers, innovators, and leaders,” aligning with Mantrac’s broader commitment to sustainable development and inclusive growth across Africa.

The Rotary Club of Karen, also celebrating 100 years of Rotary service in Africa, will manage community engagement, project coordination, and communication efforts. “This is not just a construction project; it is a contribution to a brighter future,” stated Linet Ayuko, President of the Rotary Club of Karen.

St. Mary’s Primary School, located in Karen, Kibera, faces significant infrastructural challenges including overcrowding. Mantrac will finance and oversee the construction through professional contractors, with Rotary coordinating monitoring and community liaison.

The project will be executed in coordination with the school administration and Kenya’s Ministry of Education.

This initiative is part of a series of community-focused projects Mantrac is undertaking across its markets as part of its centenary celebrations, underscoring its role as a key partner in national development beyond its core business as a Caterpillar equipment supplier.
