The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced 20,000 jobs for intern teachers that are open and available for immediate hiring, with applications welcomed beginning today until midnight on November 4, 2024.

In a statement on Tuesday, TSC shared that it will recruit the teacher interns based on their qualifications and then assign them various teaching roles at junior secondary schools across the country for one year.

“This internship program is designed to equip new teachers with essential skills through mentorship and practical experience,” the Commission said, noting that applicants must have at least a Diploma in Education and a minimum mean grade of C+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with C+ in the subjects they plan to teach and be of good reputation and character to be considered for hiring.

Additionally, during the job application, they must provide a Teacher Registration Certificate, a National ID or Passport, and a copy of their tax certificate, commonly known as KRA PIN.

According to TSC, this internship opportunity is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen the teaching profession and support junior secondary schools in addressing teacher shortages before the new school year begins.

Qualified candidates are strongly encouraged to apply online at TSC Careers Page or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke.

Before applying, it is important to note that all teacher interns under this program will be paid a stipend of Ksh20,000 every month for full-time participation throughout the 12-month period.
