After days of settled weather, sunny days and calmer conditions, forecasters have announced that less than an inch of rain could fall in most parts of Nairobi this Monday evening.

Some lingering showers not exceeding 20mm are expected in Westlands, Dagoretti South and Embakasi East and between 20mm and 50mm of rain has been predicted in Roysambu, Embakasi South, Kibra, and Lang’ata, where it might develop from moderate to heavy of up to 60mm.

The met office said that, for the most part, Kasarani could remain dry when moderate rains would be pounding most parts of the City.

A chance of showers is also likely in the areas of Gatundu North and South, Thika town, Kiambaa, Githunguri, Juja, Lari, Limuru, Kikuyu and Kabete of the nearby Kiambu County.

The meteorologists also said Kajiado North, as well as Mavoko in Machakos County, will be expecting a wet evening but with hopes for sunny and dry conditions in the coming days from Tuesday.

Garsen and Lamu will also receive moderate rains that will not exceed 20mm, but there is a moderate risk of excessive rainfall in the central highlands, parts of Rift Valley and Western Kenya.

In their seven-day forecast, the met office says daytime temperature in the coastal and northeastern parts, where winds accompanying slow-moving showers are anticipated, will rise but drop in the Mount Kenya region.

“Night temperatures will be less than 10°C in Central Highlands. Strong winds of more than 25 knots in Coast and Northeastern Kenya,” the weatherman said.
