2 Eveready Board Members, Chairperson Resign

Mr Maurice Nduranu will be the board's new Chairman

Three Eveready board members including the chairman have resigned.

The three, Lucy Waithaka (outgoing Chairperson), Fauzia Shah and Akif Hamid Butt resigned on May 10, 2023, according to disclosures from the company.

In their place, Faith Mwaura, Maurice Nduranu and Wilfred Saroni were appointed to take over, with Mr Nduranu coming in as the board’s chairperson.

“Pursuant to Capital Markets (Securities) (Public, Offers Listings and Disclosures Regulations, 2002) Amended 2012. Paragraph G.05(1)(b) of the Fifty Schedule, Eveready East Africa PLC hereby announces that at a meeting of the Board of Directors held on 10th May 2023, the Board appointed Directors; Ms Faith Mwaura, Mr Maurice Nduranu and Mr Wilfred Saroni following the resignation of Mrs Lucy W. Waithaka (outgoing Chairperson), Ms Fauzia Shah and Mr Akif Hamid Butt with effect from 10th May 2023. The Board also approved that Mr Maurice Nduranu will be the board’s new chairman,” the company said.

Maurice Nduranu is a financial engineer by training with over two decades of experience in the infrastructure, investments, and energy industries. He has over 25 years of cumulative board experience in the same sectors, including a recent seven-year term on the board of Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC.

He is the Group Chairman of CPF Financial Services Ltd., a Kenyan pension administrator with diversified financial services & technology subsidiaries, and also Chairman of Chancen International Rwanda, a Kigali International Finance Center domiciled education finance company. He serves on several other boards, including the Chairman of a mental health advocacy non-profit, Mental 360, and the Deputy Chairman of the Alliance High School Board of Management.

Wilfred Ole Saroni is the Chairman of InvestAfrica.

He has been recognized for contributing to business and leadership in Kenya and the USA. Notably, he is the 2005 recipient of the Ronald Reagan Gold Medal Award and the 2005 New Hampshire Businessman of the Year Award, both very prestigious awards in the USA.

Closer home, he was awarded the Head of State Commendation by President Kibaki in 2007.

Faith Mwaura is an award-winning Entrepreneur with a keen interest in Developing Superior Affordable Housing and Communities.

She has over 15 years of experience in Real Estate Marketing locally and in the diaspora.
She leads a mentorship and nurturing of the environment through a tree-planting initiative named Miti Millioni which has been involved in hundreds of tree-planting activities across the country.

Faith is a graduate student at Heriot Watt University Scotland in a Master of Science Real Estate Management and Development and a Bachelor of Commerce with Majors in Marketing and Business Development and Management from Daystar University.

She is a Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI) Fellow. A member of the Marketing Society of Kenya, Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a Committee Member of Kenya Property Developers Association and a Board Member of Care for A Child’s Heart which fundraises for heart surgeries for needy children with congenital heart diseases.

She is also interested in matters of National Interest and is the current Vice Treasurer at the Centre for Multiparty Democracy (CMD) which is an organization that provides a platform of dialogue to build consensus on important national development issues between citizens, civil societies and political parties.
