United States International University–Africa (USIU-Africa) has claimed victory in the 2025 University PR Challenge, outperforming top competitors with a demonstration of creativity, strategic thinking, and communication expertise.

Strathmore University finished second, Mount Kenya University took third place, and Riara University came fourth.

The competition, which brings together leading universities across Kenya, tests students on their ability to develop impactful campaigns, manage crises, and navigate complex communication challenges in today’s digital world.

USIU-Africa’s winning presentation impressed judges for its originality, clarity, and practical relevance.

“Each team delivered outstanding presentations. The depth of research, creativity, and passion displayed indicates a bright future for the PR industry in Kenya. USIU’s campaign stood out for its innovation and flawless execution,”Alex Owiti, a communications consultant on the judging panel, said.

Judge Lorraine Onduru, a corporate affairs expert, highlighted the students’ strategic thinking.

“This competition highlights the immense talent within our universities. The students demonstrated agility and the ability to create impactful communication solutions. All teams deserve commendation,” she said.

Dr. Caroline Kiarie, a PR scholar, praised the preparation of the participants.

“What we saw was a true reflection of the dedication and preparation invested by the students and their mentors. The level of thought, creativity, and attention to detail was remarkable. All teams put in great effort and should be proud of their work,” she said.

Mary Njoki, Founder and CEO of Glass House PR Limited, explained that the University PR Challenge goes beyond being a competition.

“Students are exposed to real-world communication challenges, from managing crises to engaging diverse stakeholders. They also build vital networks with industry leaders and potential employers,” she said.

Azza Mohammed, a member of the USIU-Africa team, expressed the team’s excitement.

“This win means so much to us. It validates the skills and training we receive at USIU, which truly prepare us to excel in the competitive communications industry. We dedicate this victory to our mentors and fellow students who supported us every step of the way,” she said.
