HF (Housing Finance) Group, a listed real estate firm, has announced changes to its Board of Directors that has seen the appointment of Elizabeth Gitau as an independent Non-Executive Director, w.e.f March 13th 2026.
The HF Board has also picked Samwel Mukami Makome as Chairman of HFC, the Group’s subsidiary following a nod from Central Bank of Kenya(CBK).
Makome is an experienced banker with over 30 years in the financial sector, having held previous senior positions and Standard Chartered Bank Kenya, KCB Group and Equity.
Ms Gitau brings immense experience in human resource management across Kenya, Uganda South Africa, with a deep understanding of the Sub-Sahara Africa business environment.
She has served in leadership roles across global firms, including Unilever and KPMG, serving customers in multiple geographies across the world.
HF Group stands to benefit from her deep understanding of human resources as a strategic lever for business growth and Impact. Her experience spans HR transformation and the application of modern workforce models, such as agile working, flexible structures, diversity and inclusion.
She is also a committed leader in governance and community engagement. Her boardroom experience includes serving as Trustee and Committee Chair of Union East Africa Pension Trust, advisory board member at Young Engineers Kenya and Founder Chair of Reward Management Professionals of Kenya(RMPK).
Ms Gitau holds an MSc in Human Resource Management and Training from the University of Leicester, a certified Human Resource Professionals Kenya, Bachelor of Commerce degree (accounting option) from University of Nairobi and is a Certified Public Accountant(CPA) of Kenya.
Makome educational background and work experience includes Group Chief Commercial Officer, Equity Group Holdings Plc between March 2023 to Apr 2024.
He has also been Chief Commercial Officer, KCB Group from July 2016 – Dec 2020, and Managing Director Equity Bank Tanzania Limited between Nov 2011 – June 2013, General Manager Equity Bank Limited February; and Executive Director-Bank of Africa – Uganda between May 2008 – Jan 2009.
He has attended London Business School, International Leadership University with a Master’s degree, as well as a Master’s in Organizational Leadership.
