Tuskys opens premium branch in Parklands

Regional retailer Tusker Mattresses, has opened the doors to its 64th branch at the new Diamond Plaza II Shopping complex in Nairobi’s Parklands area.

The opening of the Ksh 150 million supermarket further confirms the retailer’s commitment to furthering the regional formal retail growth.

Speaking at the opening of the new Tuskys Diamond Plaza Supermarket, Tusker Mattresses Group CEO Dan Githua said the firm would maintain its growth plans this year with a strategic focus on underserved and high value urban locations.

As part of its business development plans, Githua who was flanked by DTB Bank Group Managing DirectorNasim Devji, Bidco Africa Marketing Director Chris Diaz, Galleria Mall Developer Trevor Kanja and senior executives from Unilever and Coca-Cola among others, said the retailer would also continue to maintain strategic alliances geared at enhancing its corporate performance.

The retailer, Githua added has also stepped up its efforts to plug its service availability in the high value regions in Nairobi and Mombasa. As part of the plans, Tuskys, he said will be opening branches in Karen, Thika Road, Kitisuru and Kiambu Road environs.

“The opening of our 57th branch in Kenya and 64th in the region marks a milestone for Tusker Mattresses in our quest to maintain market leadership,” Githua said, adding: “Such a vision will be underwritten through our commitment to prudent business management, outstanding customer service and strategic partnerships.”

Covering more than 35,000 square feet, the new Tuskys Diamond Plaza Supermarket has been suitably stocked to attract a discerning clientele.

As a premium segment supermarket, Tuskys Diamond Plaza will feature a wide variety of local and imported retail products including spices, fresh and frozen foods, an alcohol free wine cellar, sauces and food condiments, cheese, cosmetics, and pet food among other products and services.

Tusker Mattresses which operates Tuskys Supermarkets and Mavazi Lifestyle clothing stores has set its sights on a 100 branches strong network in the next three years.

With a branch complement of 64 stores in Kenya and Uganda, Githua confirmed that Tuskys is adopting competitive strategies to shake off competition from local and multinational retail operators.
