Cash-strapped Mumias Sugar Company has appointed Josephat Asira as its acting chief executive.

Mr Asira, who is the chief factory operations officer, will hold the top job as the miller’s board searches for a replacement for outgoing CEO Errol Johnson who resigned last month.

A letter dated June 7 and signed by the board chairman Kennedy Ngumbau also announced the reinstatement of Prisca Otipa to her previous position as the company’s talent manager.

The changes also affected Nemuel Ong’uti, currently the employee relations manager. He will now serve, in an acting capacity, as the company’s chief human resource officer.

Moses Owino, who previously worked in the human resources department, will now be in charge of corporate affairs and strategy.

Narboth Mbalanya, Julius Tandui and Ben Wasiche were redeployed to their previous positions in the commercial, transport and nucleus departments respectively. (Business Daily)
