Mr Tobias Alando has been appointed as the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) Acting Chief Executive Officer from July 1, 2022, following Ms Phyllis Wakiaga’s exit on June 30, 2022.

Tobias joined KAM in 2005 and was appointed the Head of Membership and Governance in 2010. He has played a strategic role in expanding KAM’s membership base and leading the development and execution of strategies on membership growth and retention, business planning and development, and governance.

KAM chairman Mucai Kunyiha said that preparations are in top gear to recruit a substantive CEO in the next few weeks.

“The advertised recruitment of the CEO is making good progress and the Board is hopeful of making a full-time appointment in the coming weeks. Our focus remains on efficient service delivery to you and advocating for an enabling environment for a competitive manufacturing sector,” said Kunyiha.

Ms Wakiaga joined KAM as the Head of Policy, Research and Advocacy in 2013, and later took over the leadership mantle in 2015 as CEO from Ms Betty Maina, the current Cabinet Secretary for Industrialization, Trade and Enterprise Development.

“Phyllis has brought a tremendous level of energy, enthusiasm, and industry knowledge to the organization. She has implemented many critical changes and instituted deep robust structures towards the transformation of the Association, both internally and externally,” said Kunyiha in April.
