If there’s one thing President William Ruto has in common with his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta, it’s a penchant for the world’s finest watch brands. Like Uhuru, President Ruto has been spotted wearing various valuable timepieces over the years, worth millions of shillings.

Here, Business Today looks at a few of the luxury watches in President William Ruto’s multi-million shilling collection.

International Watch Company (IWC) Schaffhausen Portugieser Perpetual Calendar

At several functions over the past few months, including his first New Year’s address as President on December 31, 2022, President Ruto has been spotted wearing an International Watch Company (IWC) Schaffhausen Portugieser Perpetual Calendar.

Featuring an 18-karat gold framework, the watch retails for between Ksh3.9 million and Ksh5.3 million. The watch includes a see-through sapphire glass back, perpetual calendar, anti-reflective coating on both sides, 7-day power reserve, and power reserve display.

Audemars Piguet New Royal Oak

In 2020, when he was still the Deputy President, President Ruto was pictured on various occasions wearing a watch from Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak collection. The watch is worth an estimated Ksh4.8 million.

The selfwinding watch features an 18-carat pink gold case, black dial and black strap. With a total diameter of 26.6mm, it incorporates 282 different parts.

Hublot Big Bang Rose Gold

In 2020, President Ruto was also pictured wearing a Hublot Big Bang Rose Gold watch. The watch is valued at around Ksh3.2 million.

Among other features, it includes a polished and satin-finished 18 karat 5N gold case, black rubber straps, 18K 5N gold and black-plated stainless steel deployant buckle clasp and 42-hour power reserve.
