The Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration Dr Raymond Omollo has said the Kirinyaga County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP) in Sagana is poised to become a key driver of agricultural transformation under the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

In a statement on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, Omollo noted that the project is designed to enhance value addition for local agricultural produce, enabling farmers and agro-entrepreneurs to better store, process and market their crops.

“The Kirinyaga County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP) in Sagana is emerging as a key driver of agricultural transformation under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA),” he said.

“Through investment in value addition for local produce, the park will empower farmers and agro-entrepreneurs to store, process and market their crops more efficiently, increasing incomes and reducing post-harvest losses,” he added.

The park, which was launched in August 2024 and is now in advanced stages of construction, features extensive infrastructure aimed at supporting agricultural productivity and trade.

“The park, launched in August 2024 and now in advanced stages of construction, features eight warehouses (six funded by the national government and two by the county), two cold storage facilities, two aggregation stores and four value addition units,” Omollo stated.

In addition to boosting agricultural output, the project also incorporates measures to protect surrounding communities from environmental risks.

“Protective dykes have also been constructed by the County Government, under the leadership of Governor Anne Waiguru, to shield residents and farmlands from perennial flooding by River Sagana,” he said.

The PS noted that the project is already creating employment opportunities for local residents even before its completion.

“Even before completion, locals are already employed on site, creating immediate job opportunities,” he said.

Omollo added that the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration continues to play a central role in ensuring the successful delivery of the project.

“The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration continues to play a key role in overseeing the project, ensuring safety, compliance and smooth implementation throughout its development and beyond,” he said.

The CAIP initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen agricultural value chains, reduce post-harvest losses and improve livelihoods for farmers across the country.
