A poster advertising jobs at the State Department for Housing and Urban Development is fake.

The ad, posted in the Facebook group ‘Siaya Institute of Technology – Open Forum’ announced jobs in 47 counties.

Interestingly, the advert was posted by Facebook user Arlene Michael, who posted another job advert that was previously flagged here.

The ad announced that the job openings were for the Affordable Housing project by the government, aiming to build 250,000 housing units each year.

“The Government of Kenya is currently facilitating the development of 250,000 Affordable Housing Units per year. This is a transformative agenda that will go beyond the provision of decent homes to deserving Kenyans but also to trigger economic transformation, job and wealth creation,” the ad reads in part.

“In this regard, AHP is calling upon qualified Kenyans to apply for the following positions. These jobs are available in the 47 counties of Kenya.”

Among the positions announced include masons, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, ground workers, drivers, security officers, storekeepers, site supervisors, data entry clerks, truck operators, record keepers, civil engineers, and surveyors.

Qualified and interested Kenyans were invited to send their application documents consisting of well-detailed CVs and cover letters to [email protected] no later than October 27,  2023.

Business Today looked at the advert and found it to be fake.

The first red flag is that the ad was posted by a Facebook account that had previously been flagged for sharing a fake job advert.

Just as the previously flagged post, this one too used an Outlook email to dupe unsuspecting job applicants.

Also, on October 24, 2023, the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, through its verified Facebook page, flagged the ad as “fake and misleading”.

“Beware of this FAKE and MISLEADING advertisement,” the ministry stated.

The ad was also flagged here and here.

The ad promising jobs at the State Department for Housing and Urban Development is, therefore, fake.
