Nokia, Oppo New Smartphones Jostle for Kenyan Market

Smartphones in Kenya are increasingly becoming fast consumer moving goods as Kenyans move to replace their old ones with newer models.

HMD Global has announced the availability of Nokia 7.2 in the Kenyan market. This is after the successful pre-order that kicked off on September 17.

Oppo has also announced the launch of their latest A9 2020 in Kenya creating competition in the already enlightened market.

The Nokia 7.2 smartphone combines a triple camera and PureDisplay featuring a 48MP triple camera with Quad Pixel technology and ZEISS Optics.

Nokia 7.2 also premiers a range of ZEISS bokeh styles, exclusive to Nokia smartphones, that recreate the way ZEISS lenses produce high visual impact and signature blur.

Senior Business Manager, HMD Global Gopher Ogembo, said, “We aim to push the limits on what fans can get from one of our popular Nokia 7 series smartphones. The Nokia 7.2 offers fans advanced tools to express their creativity.”

“In combination with the beautifully patterned satin glass back, Nokia 7.2 packs design innovation and stunning imaging performance, with two-day battery life, into a smartphone for aspiring creators across the world at a truly incredible price,” Ogembo added.

The Nokia 7.2 is the first in the Nokia smartphone portfolio to feature a triple camera set up.

It is crafted from a polymer composite that is twice as strong as polycarbonate and half the weight of aluminium.

The phone features a gently curved design, with tough Corning® Gorilla® Glass protecting both the front and the back.

The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 660 Mobile Platform.

Nokia 7.2 comes with a dedicated Google Assistant button for quick access and users will receive a 3-month membership trial to Google One at no extra cost.

This package will afford members 100GB of cloud storage across Google Drive, Gmail and Google Photos and access to premium support from Google experience.

The Nokia 7.2 comes in Cyan Green and Charcoal grey and wireless earbuds.

Enter OPPO A9 2020

And for those looking to remain connected affordably, OPPO has announced the A9 2020 which will launch soon in the Kenyan market.

Oppo says that the OPPO A9 2020 offers more possibilities with its newly improved 48MP Ultra-Wide Quad Camera, Dual Stereo Speakers, and a 5,000mAh Ultra Battery.

The 48MP Ultra-Wide-Angle Quad Camera setup allows for all shooting angles and all scenarios.

It also supports Ultra Night Mode 2.0, Ultra-Wide photography and a whole range of artistic portrait styles.

The front 16MP camera uses AI Beautification technology for tailor-made selfies, allowing users to customize their look according to the latest trends.

19 hours continuous mobile use

Shooting video is also better than never before with 4K video technology.

A large capacity 5000mAh battery brings enjoyment to users for longer, as it’s capable of supporting 19 hours of continuous mobile use. The OPPO A9 also boasts Dual Stereo Speakers that offer higher volumes and improved sound quality, and Dolby Atmos® sound effects for the very best sound, video and gaming experience anytime, anywhere.
