No Photos, Please! Details of Aga Khan Funeral Ceremony

The funeral ceremony for His Highness Prince Karim al-Hussaini Aga Khan IV, the 49th Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, will take place at the Ismaili Centre Lisbon at 11:00 AM on Saturday, 8th February 2025.

The event is open to invited guests only, according to a press release by the funeral organisers. Guests will include members of His Highness’s family, leaders of the global Ismaili community and the Aga Khan Development Network, officials of the Portuguese government and state authorities, and international dignitaries.

Photos and video will not be permitted inside the Ismaili Centre. Pool shots and b-roll will be made available shortly after the ceremony, alongside the official press release. The ceremony will be live streamed on The Ismaili TV https://tv.ismaili/

Thereafter, Aga Khan IV will be laid to rest at a private burial ceremony in Aswan, Egypt on Sunday, 9th February 2025.

Homage Ceremony to Prince Rahim al-Hussaini Aga Khan V

On Tuesday, 11th February 2025 a special Homage ceremony will take place in Lisbon, Portugal. Prince Rahim al-Hussaini Aga Khan V will grant an audience to senior leaders of the Ismaili community, who will pledge their allegiance, on behalf of the global Ismaili community, to the 50th Imam of the Ismaili Muslims.

This is a private religious ceremony and is not open to the media. Pool shots and b-roll will be made available shortly after the ceremony, alongside the official press release.
